Challenge 7

In this challenge i had to add a score to my project. This was achieved by adding a variable to my project. Every time you click on the butterfly the score goes up by 1 but every time you hit the space bar the score resets itself.

Challenge 4

When doing this challenge i used the next costume, wait, if asnd change size buttons. The challenge was to make it switch costume whilst changing size by -10%. This was a good way to challenge myself in making the script more difficult in the lead up to my assignment.

Challenge 3

This challenge wasn't very challenging at all. It was very easy to do. As can be seen from the image, all that had to be done was making the sprite change costume every second. When doing this i found it more useful to use the forever link. This made it easier for programming purposes.

Challenge 2

In this challenge i used 2 sprites but only used the 1 script. The bennifit of this was not having to make 2 seperate scripts for the one projest. When the 1st sprite hits the 2nd sprite it says hello for 2 seconds then it glides back to its original position and then does it again. For this challenge i used two different sprites and that was a bennifit cause then i wouldnt get confused when editing them.

Challenge 1

In this challenge i have used 2 sprites in order to make them talk. Sprite 1 which is to the left glides from one end of the screen to the other. Where as sprite 2 which is to the right switches costume, glides, speaks and changes colour. The effects that i have used for this have helped me to get to know my way around srcatch.whenever sprite 2 reached its gliding point, it said a phrase and then glided back to its original position.

Tutorial 10

This tutorial makes the sprite change costume after it wait for 0.5 seconds. it then moves 5 steps then it changes again. Again for this tutorial the forever loop has been used, this has again proved to be useful in order to begin and end this loop.

Tutorial 9

In this Tutorial i have learnt exactly how to put a sound to the steps that the sprite have taken. Using the forever loop i have been able to make my sprite move from point A to point B using the beat of a drum. This could prove useful in creating and adding music to the sprites movement.

Tutorial 8

The commands that are located in this script use the arrow keys in order to move the sprite. These move 10 steps at a time before stopping and waiting for the next command. The tutorial is showing me how to incorporate the arrow keys into the sprite. This is shown through the use of the " when _______ arrow pressed" button. This button proves to be very useful towards creating the motion of the sprite. This is a very useful technique in order to create an interaction between the viewer and the program.

Tutorial 7

This tutorial uses the score function of scratch. This Tutorial is helping me to understand exactly how to use the set score function, thus being able to have the power to set a score to the program in which you are completing. This specific script is telling sprite 1 to chase after sprite 2 and when it touches it then adds a score of 1 to the tally. The use of the sound in this script is to add an entertainment value to the person viewing it.

Tutorial 6

During the making of this sprite i used the forever loop.
The forever loop is finding to be very useful in order to
save me alot of work! i have also used the whirl command
with a mouse x command inbeded into it!!

Tutorial 5

In this tutorial i learnt how to make my sprite glide
around the screen without loosing it off the screen like it
used to. with this one i used the x and y axis in order to tell
my computer exactly where to go!

Tutorial 4

In this tutorial i learnt how to move 3 steps and to follow the pointer. this

actually follows the mouse!!!!! This sprite is again on a forever loop till i press stop!

Tutorial 3

Hey all I'm back with another tutorial!
With this one i learnt how to add sounds to my sprite.
i also learnt how to use the when clicked but with a letter.
it also has a whirl in it which makes the hips move.
the last thing is a wait of 0.25 seconds between each hip
movement.

Tutorial 2

Hey this is my second go at the tutorials.

In this tutorial i learnt how to change the colour of my sprite by 25. these tutorials are really useful

Tutorial 1

Hey this is the very first tutorial that i have done!!!!!

In this first Tutorial i have learnt how to navagate around
scratch and being able to make my sprite change costume.
In this tutorial i also learnt how to add a time frame to my scripts. This is on a forever loop and will continue to move.

Here is a copy of my script!!!!

Complications

We have come across various complications throughout the making of our film.
These include:

1. I went to Sarah's house to complete the filming of our assignment. We finished everything and came to school. The only problem was that the video camera that we used didn't save the video's to the disk. This became an even bigger problem when we lost the clips saved onto the camera.

2. Jumana went interstate during the holidays and we had no way of contacting her. Sarah after numerous tries would not pick up her mobile or her home phone.

3. The last complication that arose was the group that had the camera after us deleted our clips before we got the chance to get them off the camera

When you create a video that is going to be uploaded onto the internet there are a few things that you really need to consider:

1. Size of the video: Will the website you’re placing the video on allow you to upload a video of that size?
2. Video format: Will the website you’re placing the video on accept the format you’re using?
3. Download: How long will it take someone on 56k to download he video compared to someone with broadband?

When you select the settings that are highlighted in blue below, copy the information (highlighted in cream below) on bit rate, display size, frames per second and space required to fill out the table.

Question 1
A) Save the ‘short video’ video twice (with different names) onto your desktop with the following settings:
1st copy: Video for dial up access (38kbps)
2nd copy: Video for IDSN (48kbps)

B) Watch both of the videos. What differences in quality can you notice between the two?
Both of the movies came out blurry. The only Difference was the second video has a bigger bit rate and therefore has a bit more quality then the first one.

C) Which video has the better quality? Why do you think this is so?
The second video has better quality than the first one. This is because of the higher bit rate.

What is Broadband?

Questions:

1. What is broadband?
Broadband is the term used for any kind of fast Internet access. Broadband is designed to give a business or residential user instant Internet access 24 hours a day.

2. What units are used to measure bandwidth?
The speed of a modem is measured by the number of bits of data it can transmit per second, expressed as kilobits per second (Kbps). The larger the Kbps transferred, the faster you will download pages or other material such as music or email from the Internet.
The standard prefixes of size/speed are used to indicate the number of bits. A kilobit is about 1000 bits, so a 256Kbps speed will transfer 256 000 bits of information per second. A megabit is about 1 million bits and a gigabit is about a billion bits.

3. How much faster is broadband than dial up?
Broadband is at least five times faster than dial-up. It enables you to access services and opportunities through the Internet, such as VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), streaming media and online gaming, which are simply not practical on a dial-up connection.
Broadband is 'always-on' which means as long as your computer is switched on, you can be connected to the Internet.

4. What are the speeds that broadband operates at compared to dial up?
10-20 times faster than your existing dial-up modem. A typical dial-up modem operates at either 28.8 kbit/s or 56 kbit/s. A broadband connection operates at between 256 kbit/s and 10 Mbit/s, depending on the service you have selected. To give you an idea of the difference that this speed can make, a 3.5 minute MP3 music file takes about 18 minutes to download using a 28.8 kbit/s dial-up modem but only about 21 seconds on a 1.5 Mbit/s broadband link. An e-mail containing a family photo takes about 55 seconds at 28.8 kbit/s but only about three seconds on a 512 kbit/s link.

5. What are some of the advantages of using a broadband connection to download something like a video compared to dial up?

Broadband can allow you to transfer large files of text or graphics at high speeds give you instant access to webpages, even those with large amounts of graphics that are typically very slow to download on a dial-up connection; allow employees to telecommute, operating from their home or elsewhere with the same response speeds and level of security as if they were in their office; link several computers to the Internet through the same connection; make videoconferencing faster, smoother and more practical; save money by allowing a business to rationalise and centralise its servers.

6. Create an image in paint that illustrates how a high bandwidth connection can move more data compared to a dial up connection at a given time.

I really enjoy playing with different aspects of the computer. I think thati should have managed my time a little bit better and had a bit more experience with some different programs. I like my animation alot but i think that i could have either made more or less detail. The storyline was in my opinion was quite easy to follow. I really enjoy the different aspects of IT and i think that i will continue to enjoy it!
